Andrew + Mackenzie

Mackenzie and I recently traveled to Scotland together, where we drank lots of tea and talked about Jesus a lot – it’s pretty hard to not be friends with someone after that. She’s marrying Andrew in a few months, and they needed some photos for their invitations. So we squeezed in a mini session on a kind of rainy afternoon between our getting back from Scotland and my leaving again for Kenya.

Exciting things are happening, friends. Stay tuned for plenty more beauty and joy.  : )

They’re one of my favorite couples around.

I had been wanting to take a couple to a tree lot when Keela asked for a mini Christmas card session. And oh, we had fun. It’s days like this one that keep me loving portraits. Andrew and Keela – thank you for being so fun and easy to shoot and so, so encouraging the last few weeks. I love you two and hope your second Christmas as man & wife is merry and bright.

In other news – less than 24 hours until I get to watch It’s A Wonderful Life. They don’t call it the most wonderful time of the year for nothing.

Oh I like these two. What is it about retrofabulous young women and their suspender-wearing husbands?

Mrs. Emma Litton is the vintage blogger behind The Fiercest Lilliputian. Her younger sister Sarah is one of my dearest friends (see photos of them together here!), and she gave Emma a Mr & Mrs session for her birthday this year – which also kind of felt like a half-birthday present for me, too.

Emma. Tyler. You two are a dream to photograph. I know I keep saying that – but working with creative people like you is what keeps me creative myself. And it keeps me loving what I do. Thank you for working with me and inspiring me. You can ask me for photos aaaaanytime.  : )

congratulations, Rex & Amaris

and Happy Honeymooning (:

Yesterday was my first wedding to photograph all by myself. The groom is a dear friend, and I am looking forward to better knowing his beautiful bride, Amaris. I think I had the easiest job of anyone there, because the day was seriously perfect – maybe the most beautiful, simple, and personal wedding I’ve ever attended. So much to share, but I will contain myself until the rest of the pictures are ready.

I love you two. Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting me be a part of your day.

Congratulations to these lovely newlyweds! Mary took me up on my 20% off deal back in April, and asked me to take some pictures of her and her husband, and her dog the day after their wedding. Her dog’s name is Brownie, so naturally I couldn’t refuse.

Shout out to my sister Jo Smith, who fixed Mary’s hair so well that it lasted all through the next day, and to the Maid of Honor Leslie for letting us use her backyard, and even turning on the impressive birdbath/fountain for us!

Happy marriage, Mary and Dylan.  : )

This is Lacy & Kyle. And I know these look like their engagement pictures – but they are not. Because to have engagement pictures, you need to be engaged – which Lacy & Kyle are not. Not. Noooooooooootttt.

These pictures are my birthday present to Lace, two months in the making. And my motives for giving her and her boyfriend a shoot were only slightly selfish (Because – really. Who wouldn’t want these two heartbreakers in their portfolio?)

Thanks for helping me test out a new location, you two! And just to clarify one more time: they are not engaged.

Yet.

Oop. I said it.  : )

Carrie & Adam

It's a girlIMG_7931 (1)IMG_7934 (1)IMG_7947IMG_7970 - Version 2 (1)IMG_7954IMG_7996IMG_8081IMG_8055 (1)IMG_8138 (1)IMG_8171 (1)IMG_8168IMG_8340IMG_8244IMG_8255IMG_8263IMG_8294IMG_8312Screen shot 2013-02-23 at 11.51.26 PMIMG_8407IMG_8395 (1)IMG_8462IMG_8508 (1)

I think it’s safe to say that these two are The Cutest Expecting Couple in Nashville right now. Carrie taught English at my high school, she and Adam led the trip that took me to Europe for the first time, and her mother sometimes gives me pretty old things she finds in estate sales. So – they’re definitely in The Favorite Club.

They’re expecting a little girl in April, who already has a little pink Bible and a purple nursery – does that sound familiar, Mom?  (: (It’s me. I was a little girl in April, with a little pink Bible and a purple nursery.)

Carrie asked if we could take pictures at Radnor Lake, because it’s already a special place to their family. See that bench they’re sitting on, in the 9th and 10th pictures down? That’s where Adam proposed.

Too. Sweet.

Might not be taking any more pictures at Radnor, though, because a mild-mannered park ranger told us professional photography isn’t allowed. Carrie helped me pull The Student Card this time….wonder how long I’ll be able to get away with that one? Where is the Professional dividing line, anyway? I do own my own domain name now…egads.

Thank you, Carrie and Adam, for letting me be apart of this special time! You’re going to be wonderful parents, and I’m thrilled for both of you.

Hallie & Logan; part II

And here are their real engagements. Love you both!

Hallie & Logan; part I

This is a very dear shoot to me. Last summer, when I was laid up in bed with recovering wisdom teeth, I decided I was going to try pursuing photography and see what happened. I asked Hallie, who is one of the most internally and externally beautiful people walking the earth, if I could take some pictures of her and her boyfriend Logan in an attempt to start some kind of portfolio. (Everyone on facebook thought they were engagement pictures! Oops.) My Evil Plan worked: a week after I posted these, I had scheduled two shoots with paying customers.

Now, not even a year later, I’ve upgraded to a Big Girl Camera and shot Hallie & Logan’s real engagement pictures! (Which I will post tomorrow. Try to prepare yourself. These two aren’t messing around when it comes to being crazy beautiful and crazy in love. As you can see.) Also, I have a brandspankingnew WATERMARK. We’re all very excited about this.

Hallie. Logan. Thank you for letting me take pictures of you last August. Photography is a very real possibility for my future, and that might not be the case if not for you two. Honestly. I love you both and cannot wait for the wedding. Real engagements coming tomorrow!

Pinch & Tash

I love these guys. Their names are Jeff and Natasha, but I call them Pinch and Tash – Tash is short for Natasha, of course, and Pinch is short for Crawfish Pincher. Of course. They’ve been friends of my family since I can remember (Literally – one of my three memories from our first house is of Jeff. Did you know that, Pinch?) and they now have the prettiest baby girl I have ever seen. Named Celia. Hopefully I’ll have some 6 Months to post of her by the end of the summer!
